On July 1, 2017, the internationally renowned conceptual artist Mary Ellen Carroll realized the final performance of No. 9 for the ongoing series, My Death is Pending...Because, started in1986. Carol participated in the demolition derby at the Irwindale speedway during the Night ofDestruction and drove a 1985 Buick Riviera for the performance.This series of images was shot for Mary Ellen Carroll in the days leading up to the performance and the Buick’s ultimate destruction.
