The billboard at Sunset and Hillhurst continues a story about vanished community. As a 300-acre plot of land in Inglewood is transformed into a sports mecca, profoundly altering the shape and character of the city, small details from past versions of Los Angeles become especially poignant. This image, an interior view of the now-demolished Hollywood Park Casino, is a reminder that even mundane environments, the kind we take for granted, are impermanent and transitory. This public intervention bridged the Commons series, being shown simultaneously in a private interior space in Hollywood, and the portraits from the track on display outside in Century City.
